RallyLab

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 28 July 2026

RallyLab is a table-tennis training app for Apple Watch and iPhone. It records your matches — heart rate, motion, and video — so you can review your play and track your recovery. This policy explains what data the app touches, where it is stored, and what it is used for.

The short version: RallyLab has no servers, no accounts, and no analytics. Everything the app records stays on your own devices and in your own private Apple accounts — Apple Health, your private iCloud, and your Photos library. The developer cannot see any of it.

Who this policy covers

This policy applies to the RallyLab iPhone app, its embedded Apple Watch app, and the watch complication. The developer is the sole operator; there is no company back end and no third party involved in operating the app.

What RallyLab uses, and where it is stored

DataSourceWhere it is storedUsed for
Heart rate & workouts Apple Health (HealthKit), written by the watch during a match Apple Health, on your device Drawing your heart-rate charts and computing a recovery signal
Recovery markers (resting heart rate, respiratory rate, wrist temperature, HRV) Apple Health (HealthKit) Apple Health, plus a short private history in the app's own on-watch storage (App Group) Computing an overnight recovery/readiness signal
Swing motion (50 Hz accelerometer & gyroscope) Apple Watch motion sensors during a match Your private iCloud (a private CloudKit database only you can read) Reviewing your swing motion alongside the video
Video Your iPhone camera, when you record a match On your iPhone, and a copy added to your Photos library Reviewing and editing your matches
Review decisions (which clips you kept or trimmed) Your edits in the app Your private iCloud (private CloudKit), synced across your own devices Remembering your edits and keeping your devices in sync

Health data

RallyLab reads heart rate and the recovery-related metrics above from Apple Health. It does not write your heart rate anywhere else. In particular:

Camera, microphone, and Photos

RallyLab uses the camera and microphone only while you are actively recording a match, and only in the foreground. Recorded clips are kept in the app and a copy is added to your Photos library; anything in Photos is managed by you in the Photos app. RallyLab does not upload your video anywhere.

Motion and review data in private iCloud

Swing motion and your review decisions are stored in your own private iCloud (a private CloudKit database tied to your Apple Account). This is the same iCloud that syncs your other Apple data between your devices — it is not accessible to the developer. iCloud keeps a bounded number of recent motion sessions; older ones are removed automatically.

What RallyLab does not do

Recovery is a fitness signal, not medical advice

RallyLab's recovery/readiness score is a fitness signal derived from your own baseline — how today's overnight metrics compare to your recent norm. It is correlational, not diagnostic. It is not a medical device, does not diagnose any condition, and must not be used for medical decisions. Its confidence grows as it sees more of your data, and it is never a substitute for professional judgment. If you feel unwell, see a doctor — regardless of what any score says.

Your controls

The app's About your data screen lists every store, where it lives, and which control manages it.

Children

RallyLab is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from children. As above, it does not collect personal data at all.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will change and the current version will be published at this URL. Material changes affecting how your data is handled will be reflected in the app.
